After doing the Alexa assignment , discuss reasons for using this site as a high school student. Give specific examples. In other words, how could this site be used to help with your high school assignments
Today when I use alexa I could easily use this to find websites that could help in specific projects. Say I was to find popular websites in Spain for a Spanish project; alexa is a great tool for me to find the top sites of Spain or any other site. This could help me when I’m looking for important sites that could easily give me recent news, top stories, and the best information that is reliable out there. Lastly, when I am looking for a cool idea or site for an extracurricular activity, say a club or something, to find the next big change/improvement.
Cara Stang September 16, 2011 I think Alexa could be useful to me as a high school student because I could use it for a project if I needed to find some popular and useful search engines I could go to Alexa. Also, they have some top sites in other countries so I could compare cultures by looking at their websites and showing how they are different than the websites we use in America. Alexa has a lot of useful websites that I could go to if, say, I forgot the URL for that website. I could go to Alexa and look for that or I could use any information that it gives me for high school projects. It’s a great tool!
Zack Carter September 16, 2011 I think that Alexa is an amazing tool. It helps out a lot because it’s like a separate timeline for every web site on the internet. But it’s a timeline of pictures instead o0f words. I think that high school students could use this site if you were to have to compare a website from now and 5 years ago, or if you had to do a project on how the internet has evolved over the years. You could use pictures from websites back then, and now how they look today. There’s a difference.
Alexa.com could be very useful for high school assignments. One example is say you need to find a biography of someone; go to alexa type in the site name, and then see how reliable the site is. Another example of what you can do is search on alexa for a history site to see how many people used the site which allows me to know what other people think of the site and if they thought the information was good or not. Say if for my geometry assignment, I needed help on it, than I could easily go on alexa and see what I need help on and what website has the best information to help me. As you can see, alexa.com is very useful for if I need help with my school assignments.

High school students can see how many people use the site and how popular it is. Students can also see what the ranking it has in the US or the World to see how many other people use it and know whether it seems good to use. They can compare one website to another to see which site is better. Someone could also type a subject in and see websites that come up and how they rank.

This is good because it the download has a virus, people will post and tell you, that way you don’t accidently download it. Alexa is good for high school students for a numerous amounts of reasons.

If you want to check Wikipedia to see how reliable it is, you can check the ratings. If it has poor ratings than it probably isn’t the best source to use for school. You check your sites before you use them so you most likely will have a reliable resource.

I think this site can really help me as a high school student in many ways. One being if I have a project where I need a lot of information, I can look at Alexa’s rating of that website. It prevents non useful and false information. If I have an assignment in geometry and I didn’t know where to find help, I could go to Alexa and find out an accurate website for math help. Also if I have to do a research paper in parenting class about babies vs. toddlers. I could look it up on Alexa and they would give me a site where I could find helpful and true information.

After using Alexa I realized this can be a very useful tool to me as I continue my high school career. There are many ways I can use it including writing a factual essay for Honors English where I would need a site I can trust as being accurate but good information as well. Another way I can use this website is for Algebra if I don’t get a problem I can look up a safe and reliable math website that could possibly have a tutorial I could watch on how to do the problem. Alexa doesn’t even have to be used only in school, I can use it outside the classroom as well. For instance if I was doing some online shopping and was looking for a certain product from a top rated website or if I was bored and wanted to find a game to play without one giving viruses to my computer.

Also if you need something online or a specific website and you want the best recommended one, you could find it right away on Alexa. If you needed to research something, you can go on Alexa and it shows you that Google.com is the best website for a search engine. It also shows you that Facebook is the most popular and most used social networking site, and it shows that YouTube is the most popular website used for sharing videos with people all around the world.

Alexa can be used for high school assignments to look at a web site that you got your resources from. If you want to check Wikipedia to see how reliable it is, you can check the ratings.
